The Cherokee Rodders are a totally volunteer organization. No one gets paid a salary. so we have the luxury of giving away many cash prizes to our participants who support us by paying the registration fee and buying tshirts and sweatshirts. After all the current car show expenses are paid and a budget for the next show is established which includes projected needs such as a new microphone, the members vote on which charities get the balance of the money.
The Cherokee Rodders have supported a variety of local charities and organizations through the years: including "Rolling Start", a group of car enthusiasts who refurbish donated vehicles to a safe, reliable, and presentable condition and in turn, they donate the vehicles to local individuals and families who have no means of transportation but go to college or jobs every day; "Toys for Tots" Christmas Gifts for Kids; the "Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation" whose mission it is to ensure the future od elk, their habitat and our hunting heritage by protecting, conserving, restoring, and enhancing natural habitat; "Scholarships" for Southwestern Community College students; the Museum of the Cherokee People; Cherokee Boys Club; Land of the Sky Shriners; and the "Joey Parker Memorial Ride for Playground Equipment for Special Needs Children".
